FROM THE HEAD OF ELEMENTARY
One of the unique features of our school is our Inclusion Policy. While up to 75% of our student community may be mainstream, we also cater to students with diverse learning needs. At Paradise Valley not only do we have education staff who act as Home Room teachers, Arabic teachers or Specialists and Teaching Assistants but we also have a very active Inclusion Team. This team serves to assess each student who comes to us with special educational needs. Our Inclusion Team includes a Special Education teacher as well as a very experienced Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and a Speech and Language Therapist.
Our Inclusion Team assist with the transition of students with special educational needs into the mainstream classroom. Our home room teachers and specialists enjoy the benefit of professional guidance and collaboration with our Inclusion Team to ensure that all our SEN students have their own Individual Learning Plan.
Paradise Valley Private School is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP).We are pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- “a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students."
Our staff have already begun working with transdisciplinary units of inquiry with all students at Paradise Valley Private School through our Program of Inquiry. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive international inclusive education that encourages students to be compassionate, responsible and inquiring life-long learners, with a global perspective. We have a passionate team of educators who are working tirelessly to promote a unique environment where we acknowledge that “every individual is dynamic and can learn. All children have the potential to be the best that they can be, given the right kind of intervention.” (Arun Kapur, founder of Pallavan Learning Systems who are our academic partners).
Whilst lockdown and virtual education was thrust upon our staff and students during the Covid-19 pandemic, we all rose to the challenge in March 2020, and continued our academic year through to the end of June with our teachers and the Inclusion team interacting with our students to provide a plethora of engaging academic, social, physical and artistic activities made available on our online platforms.
Over the Summer our staff have engaged in Webinars and researched the safest ways to move forward with education from the beginning of our new Academic year for 2020-2021. We are very excited to be able to implement our updated policies and practices with our continuing and newly registered students and their families from KG 1 through to Grade 4.
Virtual or face-to-face observation sessions are available for prospective students who may require additional support from our Inclusion Team members. We welcome all inquiries and are happy to show prospective PVPS parents, students or staff around our current facility.
