Pallavan Learning Systems (PLS)

Pallavan Learning Systems is an educational research organization that specializes in creating education centres of excellence with innovative learning spaces and systems so that learning takes place seamlessly. It develops curricula that is holistic, focusing on Five Areas of Development - Cerebral, Emotional, Ethical, Physical and Social. It also specializes in the professional development of educators who can use such curricula to encourage each learner to actualize their potential. Pallavan Learning Systems conducts research, seminars and conferences for the creation and dissemination of new knowledge so that what it does remains current and relevant to the rapidly changing times.

It believes in every person’s capacity to be an active learner for life and that learning is not restricted to the confines of formal institutional structures and age groups. Skill building, growth and actualizing one’s potential is essential to the work that is carried out. A lot of activities take place outdoors, using nature and different natural locales to create ideal learning experiences. Regular leadership programmes are organized for capacity building for leaders of institutions and for those in top level and middle management.

In addition to providing professional development for teachers, principals and other professionals, it works with students and graduates to equip them with appropriate information and pertinent skills for their future endeavours that is aligned to their individual aspirations.

Arun Kapur, Executive Director, Pallavan Learning Systems

An educator par excellence, Mr. Arun Kapur leads PLS and guides the development and implementation of leading-edge learning technologies and methods that enrich school education through the promotion of professional standards, while focusing on the professional development of teachers. He is the Chairman of Ritinjali, a NGO that works with the marginalised; and founded PLS, which promotes Pallavanjali, an inclusive school. He has been a member of National Council of Educational Research (CABE) and Training (NCERT) and the Central Advisory Board of Education in India and has served on the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) India panel. He is on the Board of Directors of the Doon School, Scindia School and is the Director of Vasant Valley School, New Delhi as well as of the Royal Academy, Bhutan. He has authored two acclaimed books: Transforming Schools — Empowering Children and Leading Out — The True Purpose of Education.

He is a member of HundrEd Academy, Finland that recognized the Five Areas of Development as one of the 100 most inspiring educational innovations in 2017 and 2018. He is also a member of East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
